![]() ![]() Stefan works as the vineyard manager and Leopold as the winemaker and sales manager their philosophy is simple: to produce wine in harmony with nature. Today, the fourth generation of Müllers, Stefan and Leopold, are managing the estate, which is now comprised 120 hectares of prime vineyards. as a Lesehof-or wine press house, and has been run as a family business by the Müller family since 1936 when the grandfather, Leopold Müller acquired a small vineyard in Krustetten and made the first Müller wines. The estate was first mentioned in the archive of nearby Göttweig Abbey as early as 1270 A.D. This winery is located in the southern part of Austria’s Kremstal wine region in the picturesque village of Krustetten. All harvesting, sorting, and crushing is done in individual batches by hand, using no machinery in the process, but instead a gravity flow system that was developed at the winery over 100 years ago. The vines range in age up to 70-years-old. ![]() Today, Altocedro continues to produce outstanding terroir-driven wines using sustainable growing practices, original old-vine rootstocks, indigenous yeasts, hundred-year-old concrete fermentation tanks and minimalist winemaking techniques. Twenty years ater he started the winery, their diligence and advocacy paid off La Consulta was classified as one of Argentina’s few Geographic Indication (GI) appellations. Karim and his family were among the first champions of the La Consulta region of the Uco Valley. Cedar trees are considered sacred in the Lebanese culture, and a grove of cedars surrounds the winery and estate vineyard. Altocedro means “tall cedar” and is a nod to Karim’s Lebanese/Argentine heritage. Altocedro was founded in 1999 by third-generation Lebanese immigrant Karim Mussi. ![]()
